Guadalupe River Information

The Guadalupe River below Canyon Dam is the most popular river in the state.  Great for river recreation due to its' clear cold water, fun rapids and location near many metropolitan areas.
Be sure to check with a reputable outfitter before entering the river- water conditions vary with flow releases from Canyon Lake.  Even at lower flows, caution is always advised - wearing life vests, wearing river shoes, sandals or even old tennis shoes, having protection from the sun are all important elements to having an enjoyable day on the river.
Bring your fly rod - trout stockings have begun here at Rio. Winter rains have raised the level of Canyon Lake to normal from a low of 16 feet below normal - looks great for the spring and summer river flows.
